ForgeOne e.U. joined the SUSE, Exoscale and A1 Digital CloudCollective in Vienna. The conversations focused on open source, European cloud infrastructure, digital sovereignty and how professional open source services could be delivered on European cloud platforms in the future.

Why this CloudCollective mattered to ForgeOne
SUSE, Exoscale and A1 Digital bring different perspectives together: enterprise Linux and open source, European cloud infrastructure and digital services. This is exactly where many organizations ask practical questions: Where do critical applications run? Who operates them? How do data, operations and accountability remain transparent?
The CloudCollective took place around Cloud Native Days Austria 2026. In addition to cloud native, Kubernetes and platform operations, our focus was on European operating models, digital sovereignty and potential services in the Exoscale ecosystem.

One concrete topic was the Exoscale Marketplace. We are evaluating which ForgeOne offerings could make sense there in the future. This is explicitly about potential future services and integrations, not already published Marketplace offerings.

For us, digital sovereignty is not an abstract term. It only becomes meaningful when architecture, hosting, open source components, operations, access, backup and support fit together. For customers, this means that a European cloud alone does not solve an operational challenge. It becomes relevant when applications are operated, updated, monitored and integrated into existing IT processes in a transparent way.

The CloudCollective conversations help us assess possible next steps: Which open source platforms are suitable for standardized managed offerings? Where is individual architecture work required? And what roles can SUSE, Exoscale and A1 Digital play in European operating models?
We will continue the conversations and communicate concrete offers only once scope, operations, responsibilities and technical implementation are clearly defined.
