grommunio Engineer Deep Dive

Three-day advanced course for teams that need to understand grommunio more deeply, assess integrations and diagnose operational issues in a structured way. The Engineer training is the second level of the grommunio certification path and builds directly on the grommunio Administrator Training.

The grommunio Engineer training builds on the Administrator Training. After successful completion of the Advanced/Engineer training, participants receive the grommunio Certified Engineer certification. The certificate is issued by grommunio.

• Administrators, engineers, MSPs and partners after completed grommunio Administrator Training.
• Teams that need to understand integration, mail flow, authentication and diagnostics.
• Operations teams with technical responsibility beyond routine administration.

Prerequisites

• Solid Linux administration basics.
• Completed grommunio Administrator Training or grommunio Certified Administrator.
• The Engineer training is not a direct-entry path for skipping the Administrator level.
• Basic understanding of DNS, SMTP, TLS, LDAP/AD and log analysis.

Building on Administrator

The Engineer Deep Dive does not repeat the Administrator basics as a beginner course. It assumes that realm, client, redirect URI, standard login and break-glass access are already understood.

Deep dive

• Identity brokering, second Keycloak, external identity providers and multiple IdPs.
• LDAP/AD federation, sync models, read-only sources, claims, mappers, group and role mapping.
• Token/audience debugging, redirect/OIDC errors, auth flows, conditional MFA, WebAuthn/passkeys, multi-realm/tenant design, reverse proxy, TLS and HA architecture.

IMAP migration with imapsync

• Inventory, preparation, initial sync, delta sync, resume, bulk runs, validation and cutover.
• Limits of IMAP migrations: calendar, contacts, rules, delegations and Public Folders are not automatically covered completely.

Exchange and special cases

Exchange migrations are planned as a separate project: source system, permissions, coexistence, cutover strategy, client impact, Public Folder/shared mailbox concept and dependencies must be clarified beforehand.

• Meet, Chat, Files, Office, Archive and MDM are classified from an engineer perspective: interfaces, operational boundaries, typical failure patterns and escalation points.
• The three-day Engineer training does not replace a full specialist course for every add-on module.
• If a module needs deep configuration or acceptance in a project, we plan a separate workshop or project day.

• Technically classify the components of a grommunio environment.
• Use relevant services and logs for troubleshooting.
• Trace users, groups and directory integrations.
• Technically assess advanced authentication, federation and SSO configurations.
• Plan and validate IMAP migrations and distinguish Exchange/Public Folder special cases.
• Classify backup, disaster recovery, single mailbox restore, multitenancy and HA/cluster boundaries.
• Analyze mail flow and mail security configuration.
• Use gromox tools for diagnostics and administration.
• Narrow down typical operational issues in a structured way.

• Instructor-led deep dive with prepared lab environment, exercises, material and technical runbook.
• Practical analysis tasks, architecture discussions, debugging paths and feedback on realistic operational cases.
• Short practical and factual final competency check instead of a formal standardized exam.
• After successful completion, ForgeOne reports the completion to grommunio; grommunio issues the certificate.
• If the required level is not reached yet, the participant may attend the next regular ForgeOne training of the same certification level once free of charge, subject to available seat.

Regular maximum price: EUR 2,850 net per participant. Group tiers can automatically reduce the price. Online or in-house by arrangement.

Delivery guarantee

Once ForgeOne has accepted your binding registration for a published open training date, the training will take place. You do not need to wait for a participant threshold to be reached; exceptional events remain governed by the applicable terms.

After acceptance, the participant count no longer affects whether the course runs; it can only reduce the price.

Register early without price risk

The regular price shown when you register is your maximum price. If the training reaches a lower group-price tier by seven calendar days before the training starts, your price is automatically reduced. The same established price tier applies to all participants of that open training session.

Registrations accepted after the price cut-off use the already established session price and do not trigger retroactive invoice changes.

The final participant price is determined seven calendar days before training starts. The invoice is issued afterwards; the concrete due date is stated in the offer and confirmation.

Closed corporate and in-house trainings are quoted separately. Relevant factors include participant count, customization, lab setup, location, travel, trainer requirements and possible course combinations. Public open-session group tiers are not applied automatically.

This form is a non-binding inquiry. If no suitable date is published, ForgeOne may offer a shared open date when compatible inquiries exist. There is no automatic transfer and no disclosure of other interested parties.

When several compatible inquiries exist for the same course and timeframe, ForgeOne may offer a shared open training date. This may allow the group to reach a lower price tier.
